For the 20th anniversary of its annual model search, the Kim Dawson Agency has partnered with KD Conservatory College of Film and Dramatic Arts and CW33. Each year, hundreds of prospective models enter to become finalists in the prominent model search. The contest has launched careers of world renowned super models, such as Erin Wasson, Ali Michael and Hannah Ferguson.
“We have never previously partnered with Kim Dawson on this event, so we are looking forward to supplying the videography,” said KD Conservatory Owner Kathy Tyner. “KD Conservatory appreciates this opportunity to revisit the roots of our companies’ relationship and assist with something so influential in this industry.”
KD Conservatory got its start with an original partnership with Kim Dawson herself, when she and Tyner had a vision to provide models in the Dallas area with a workshop space to continue their training. The acting workshops evolved over time into KD Conservatory College of Film and Dramatic Arts, a fully accredited college offering Associate of Applied Arts Degrees in Acting Performance, Musical Theatre, and Motion Picture Production.
“This is a big year for the Kim Dawson Model Search – our 20th anniversary,” said Kim Dawson Agency owner Lisa Dawson. “We are so excited to partner with the staff and recent graduates of KD Conservatory on the production of this year’s model search campaign.”
The model search is now open for submissions on CW’s site, as prospective models send in headshots for a chance to be considered. When the deadline for submissions hits on September 6th, the process for choosing semi-finalists will begin. From there, the Kim Dawson Agency will narrow this group even further until they find their chosen finalists.
KD Conservatory graduates, Michael Goldermann and David Ryan will film the finalists as they receive complimentary makeovers from Dear, Clark Salon. Goldermann and Ryan will then shoot their testimonials, in which finalists will be given the chance to talk about their ambitions. These will be posted on the CW33’s social media platforms. The winners will be chosen at the Kim Dawson Model Search Video Festival on November 9th, and will each receive $5000 scholarships to KD Conservatory and a contract with the Kim Dawson Agency.
“We admire the Kim Dawson Agency’s commitment to helping aspiring models achieve their dreams in this competitive industry,” Tyner said. “We’re grateful that, because of our talented film production students, we are able to continue to honor Kim Dawson’s lasting legacy.”
