KD Conservatory’s own Harper Robinson’s recent film, Beyond Pollution, has been nominated for the prestigious Cinema for Peace’s International Green Film Award. Harper was the lead producer, lead researcher and co-writer on the film.
Beyond Pollution tells the tale of systemic greed and corruption by one of the largest multi-national corporations in the world: British Petroleum. The film is narrated by international television and film star Dean Cain, best known for playing Superman on the hit mid-90’s ABC show “Lois and Clark” and for hosting the hit show “Ripley’s Believe It or Not”.
The Cinema for Peace Gala premiered in 2002 with the goal of raising awareness for socially conscious films and the influence they have on important global challenges. Cinema for Peace and the causes it supports have gained the support of Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Leonardo DiCaprio, Oprah Winfrey, Bill and Hillary Clinton, and many others. Over the years, Cinema for Peace has raised millions for charity, including fundraising more than $6 million for Sean Penn’s work in Haiti.
We at KD Conservatory are so proud to have Harper Robinson as a member of our esteemed faculty. His got his start in the film and television industry was on network reality television shows such as American Idol, The Biggest Loser, and So You Think You Can Dance. Working closely with the CEO of Stevens Entertainment Group Inc., he contributed significantly to the completion of many of their successfully distributed films shot in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and also played an integral role in the development of several of their film and television projects.
“We are very proud of how well the film turned out considering how complex and large scale the topic was,” said Robinson of Beyond Pollution. “It took an incredible amount of research and traveling thousands of miles across the gulf coast to put together the true story of the worst man-made environmental disaster in America’s history.”
