Kitchen Dog Theater presents TREVOR by Nick Jones

KITCHEN DOG THEATER PRESENTS
the Area Premiere of
TREVOR
by Nick Jones

MAY 4 TO MAY 14
AT&T Performing Arts Center, Wyly Theatre, 9th Floor

Kitchen Dog Theater continues its 26th season of theater with the area premiere of Trevor by Nick Jones. Inspired by true events, Trevor is a subversive comedy about fame, success, and the lies we tell ourselves to keep people from taking away an erratic, 200-pound chimpanzee. At the center of this hilarious and heart-wrenching play are two individuals fighting against a world unable to understand their love: Trevor, a chimpanzee who once performed in commercials with the likes of Morgan Fairchild, and his owner Sandra, who swears he would never hurt a fly…at least not on purpose. KDT Co-Artistic Director Tina Parker directs this hilarious and heartbreaking exploration of family, flawed communication, and humanity.

A great team has been assembled for this production. The cast will feature KDT Artistic Company Members Max Hartman (Trevor), Cameron Cobb (Oliver), Liza Marie Gonzalez (Ashley) and Jamal Gibran Sterling (PA/Jerry) alongside local luminaries Lisa Hassler (Sandra), Cindy Beall (Morgan Fairchild) and William Paul Williams (Jim). KDT Artistic Company Members Clare Floyd Devries (Set Design), Lisa Miller (Light Design) and Ruth Stephenson (Stage Manager) will join forces with area design stalwarts Melissa Panzarello (Costume Design), Kellen Voss (Sound Design), and Stefany Cambra (Prop Design) on the production’s design staff.

The Playwright: Nick Jones- Other produced plays include The Coward (Lincoln Center/LCT3; 4 Lortel Nominations); Jollyship: The Whiz-Bang (Ars Nova; The Public); The Wundelsteipen (The Flea); The Sporting Life (Studio 42); and The Nosemaker’s Apprentice (with Rachel Shukert). His puppet horror musical Homunculus is in development at Center Theater Group (music by Dave Malloy, directed by Sam Gold) and Grizzly Adams, a rock musical performed by bears with the Huntington (music by Corn Mo, directed by Peter DuBois). He has received commissions form Lincoln Center, Ars Nova, The Old Globe, Manhattan Theater Club, The Huntington Theatre Company, Center Theater Group and South Coast Repertory. Mr. Jones currently lives in Los Angeles where he is a writer and co-producer of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series, Orange is the New Black, which has garnered numerous accolades, including Writer’s Guild Award, Golden Globe, and Emmy nominations. The Coward is being developed into a film with Big Beach Films/American Works. Jones’ schooling included Bard College, Julliard and Chugach Elementary. More at nickjonesland.com
