“I Want to Learn How to Act. What Classes Should I Start With?”

intro to actingAt KD Conservatory, you might often hear us bragging on our degree programs, including our Acting Program, and for good reason – these 15-month programs offer our acting students incredible instruction, with award-winning faculty, immersive and hands-on experience, and a well-rounded body of education. However, we realize that a complete degree program may not be right for you just yet. Maybe you’re not out of high school yet, but want to gain some acting education – or maybe you’ve never acted before, and want to try out a class or two to test it out.  If you’re not yet ready to dive into one of our degree programs, below are a few options to get you started with a solid introduction to the craft of acting.

Intro to Acting Workshops

No matter what your age or experience level, we offer an acting workshop that’s perfect for helping you learn to act. For most brand-new aspiring actors who want to learn to act, our Introduction to Acting workshop is ideal for teaching the basics of acting and giving the students a strong foundation that they can build on with later more advanced classes, or in our degree program. In this workshop, adult acting students can learn the fundamentals with a commitment of just two hours per week for eight weeks. For teens who want to learn to act, we offer Introduction to Acting for Teens, an eight-week course held on Saturdays.

Specific Interests

If your acting interests are more specific, one of our specialty intro-level workshops for adults, teens, or children can help you focus on learning the basics of acting in the field of your choice. If the stage is your goal, our Introduction to Musical Theatre or Introduction to Musical Theatre for Teens workshops can give more pinpointed entry-level acting lessons. Does your interest lie in being the face of a product or company’s national (or local) advertising campaign? You might want to start with Introduction to Television Commercials, Introduction to Television Commercials for Teens, or Television Commercial Workshop for Children I workshops.

Camps

If you’re a teen who has recently been bitten by the acting bug and wants to start acting classes – or the parent of a child who wants to learn to act – check out one of our acting summer camps. Our camps cater to kids and teens who want to learn to act in a fun, social environment. Most of our acting camps are two weeks long, giving campers the opportunity to learn the basics of how to act through fun, hands-on experience taught by industry professionals who can give them the tips and guidance they need to go from acting lessons to a future acting career.
